This story is set in the South Pacific, in the 18th and 19th centuries. Emma is the daughter of a British man and a local woman. She was born in King Island. When she's 8 years old she is sent to Europe to receive a proper education but people treat her coldy due to her half blood. Emma goes to France some years later and meets the ambitious Napoleon. She becomes the queen of King Island. The main themes of this manga are war and nature, although there is a place for romance too with characters like Hyuga, Emma's childhood friend; the gentle Edward, who is always protecting her from bullies; and Adolf, a British aristocrat who watches over Emma. However, she is too busy trying to make King Island a modern state to care about love.
